Jarbola - Christmas Fair

Year 6 are running the Jarbola stall at the Christmas fair on Friday 24th November. We need your help to provide clean glass jars (or alternatively plastic cups) filled with wrapped sweets and covered with a Christmassy lid made out of Christmas wrapping paper. If this is not possible, we would be very grateful for any clean glass jars and donations of wrapped sweets so that we can make them up at school. Thank you for your support!  (14/11/17)

Crucial Crew

On Friday 13th October, Year 6 spent the morning at Rochdale Council's "Crucial Crew" event. This is a multi-agency child safety event organised for Y6 children where they are educated about aspects of personal safety and what it means to be a good citizen. We were very proud of the children and the way they participated in all the workshops. We hope this event will help the children develop their awareness of the importance of being responsible citizens as they gain more independence in the years to come.  (19.10.17)

E-safety

This is a very useful site which we are looking at in our computing lessons. It raises children's awareness of issues concerning online safety and gives lots of good advice: www.thinkuknow.co.uk  There is also a section giving advice for parents and carers.

Purple Mash

Purple Mash is an award-winning website for primary school children. It enables the children to explore and enhance their knowledge in a fun and creative way. The children have been provided with an individual login to support topics that have been covered in class.  Click on link below to access the site:-

Internet Safety

There is a new resource for parents and carers about internet safety.  "Video guides for the free ISP parental controls".   These guidelines have been produced by Safer internet who have been working with BT, Sky, Talk Talk and Virgin Media, who have each made short video clips outlining where you can find their free parental controls, what they do and how you set them up.

These films are available on the UK Safer Internet Centre website and you can embed the films if you want to use them or download them.  See http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-and-resources/parents-and-carers/parental-controls .  Do please make use of them and let people know about them.     The ISPs have committed to keeping these films updated, and if you embed the films on your site, we are able to update them for you if they change
