Class 1S — Costa Del St. Vincent's

Class 1S

This term Class 1S will be looking at the seaside past and present. We have been enjoying our very own beach in our role play. More pictures as the week goes on.  (22.6.17)



Year 1

Year 1 have just begun learning about Space and the children in 1V have been enjoying building their own rockets and operating Mission Control.  More picture of their journey into space will follow.....(16.3.17)


Gruffalo Day

Today, Friday 17th February our Year 1 children have had a lovely day finishing their topic of  'The Gruffalo.'  The children have made a gruffalo face, a log pile house and a gruffalo crumble out of food items.  They have also made and designed a giant paper gruffalo.  The children finished the day with owl ice-cream whilst watching the gruffalo play.  We would like to thank everyone for all the efforts made today; the children look fantastic.  (17.2.17)

Our Year 1 children, have been listening to the rhythm and rhyme in the story of the gruffalo. Here we are reciting the story and tapping out the beat using musical instruments. (16.2.17)

Y1 — Science

Our Science topic this half term is materials.  During week beginning 9th January the children had been looking at materials that they could use to build a shelter that would be waterproof, windproof and provide shelter from the shade.  They had lots of fun and Mr Callaghan came to help out too. Children In Need

The children in Year 1 performed their assembly on Friday 18th November.  It was all about Children in Need.  We shared with everybody that 'Children in Need' supports children and young people with disabilities, life-limiting conditions, hospitals and other charities that focus on keeping children safe. We hope you enjoy the short video below and a short slide show.  (23.11.16)

Eureka Trip

The children in year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Eureka on Thursday 3rd November.  They explored lots of areas within the museum and were inspired to learn all about themselves and the world around them by playing, imagining, experimenting and – above all – having fun.  They also watched a variety of experiments carried out by the Eureka staff; with the help of our children.  We hope you enjoy the slide show below.  (18.11.16)






The evil pea has been causing havoc around school! He keeps popping up in unexpected places and ruining our classrooms! Not to worry.....Supertato is here to the rescue! All the children in Year 1 have loved the build up to our new book in Literacy.  Over the next few weeks we will be looking at superheroes and villains and using this exciting book to help us with sentence writing, character descriptions, speech bubbles and story re-telling.  We will have some more photographs on our website soon with a link to the audio book of Supertato…

Autumn walk

On Monday 3rd October — Class 1S went on a walk around our local area to look at all the different types of  houses.  (11.10.16)





Class 1V have enjoyed going on an Autumn walk during September, they used all their senses to explore the environment surrounding our school and discussed the changes in seasons.   Enjoy the photographs.  (3.10.16)





During week 26th September, Year 1 have been measuring objects in Numeracy.  Have a look at our pictures below of us measuring the adventure playground using metre sticks. (3.10.16)




Class 1S — Hand washing

On Thursday 29th September, Class 1S have had a lesson in hand washing from the school nurses.   They put some disclosing lotion on their hands and looked at them under an ultra violet light to see the germs ……YUK!!  They have learn't how to correctly wash their hands. (3.10.16)
